Jerry Spell is currently the unit supervisor for the Insurance Integrity Enforcement Bureau for the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. He began his law enforcement career in 2001 with Crystal Springs Police Department, and graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in June of 2002. He made the rank of Detective in October 2003 and served as such until being hired at Copiah County Sheriff’s Department. As an investigator with Copiah County Sheriff’s Department, he had the opportunity to work all aspects of crime from financial crimes to murders and rapes. He also became certified in Accident Reconstruction, Commander of the County Special Response Team, completed the Certified Investigator’s Program, and was also a Mississippi Information Liaison Officer. Jerry took a leave of absence in 2009 to travel to Afghanistan where he was employed by Dyncorp International as a civilian police. Upon returning to Copiah County Sheriff’s Department, he continued his career as an investigator until taking a position with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in 2011. Assigned to the Insurance Integrity Enforcement Bureau, he has worked numerous fraud cases ranging from staged accident rings, workers’ compensation fraud, and cases against insurance agents. In 2016, he transferred to the Public Integrity Unit and was assigned to work cases of various white collar crimes and public corruption. In May 2017, he was appointed unit supervisor for the Insurance Integrity Enforcement Bureau.

Chapter meetings begin in January and occur bi-monthly. Normally, meetings are scheduled on the second Wednesday of the month and are open to the public.  The luncheon-format meetings are held at River Hills Country Club in Jackson, Mississippi from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  The cost of the luncheon is $25.00. Advance reservations with the Chapter are required.  Each meeting provides an opportunity to network with fellow professionals and has a speaker or a program that addresses a topic related to fraud. One hour of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit is available to participants.  

Advance reservations are required by the hosting facility and are guaranteed by the Chapter.  The Chapter bills "no-shows" for the cost of the luncheon.  Reservation substitutions are allowed and encouraged.
